ElectraSeal® ESD Concrete
Sealer-CSI Product Guide Specification
|
|
This product guide specification is
written in accordance with the CSI MasterFormat,
SectionFormat, and PageFormat standards. It simplifies
the process of specifying a permanent, metal-free,
low-VOC anti-static concrete treatment under Section 03
35 00 (Concrete Finishing) or Section 09 61 13 (Flooring
Treatment).

2.2 MATERIALS
-
Static Dissipative Sealer:
ElectraSeal® ESD Concrete Sealer:
-
Formulation: Metal-free, low-odor,
hygroscopic polymer chain formulation.
-
VOC Content: Less than 55 g/L. Meets
CDHP V1.2
-
Environmental Restrictions: Do not
install in spaces with a sustained relative humidity below 30%.
-
Composition Safety: 100% Free of
Dibutyl Phthalates and Formaldehydes.
B. Grounding Components: Manufacturer-supplied
aluminum or copper foil grounding foil strips or approved
alternative grounded metal equipment racks.
PART 3: EXECUTION
3.1 EXAMINATION AND PRE-TESTING
A. Substrate Verification: Verify concrete
substrate is clean, visibly dry, and free of bond-inhibiting
contaminants (wax, oil, grease, or incompatible curing
compounds).
B. Moisture Testing: Conduct concrete vapor
emission testing per ASTM F1869. Specifier Note: ElectraSeal
features a microporous structure capable of handling high vapor
emissions, but anomalies over 8 lbs/1,000 SF/24 hrs should be
evaluated by the manufacturer before proceeding.
C. Bond Pre-Test: Perform a localized bond and compatibility
pre-test if applying over existing densified, sealed, or
diamond-polished concrete surfaces.
3.2 APPLICATION
A. Grounding: Install manufacturer-provided
aluminum ground foil strips in accordance with grounding
documentation, or verify placement of permanently grounded steel
structures (such as server racks) acting as alternate grounding
paths.
B. Application Method: Apply product using a clean microfiber
mop, high-speed finish applicator, or automated spray equipment.
C. Coverage Rate: Apply uniformly at a coverage rate of
approximately 1,500 square feet per gallon per coat.
D. Coating Sequence: Apply a minimum of three (3) full coats,
allowing adequate drying time between subsequent coats according
to manufacturer instructions.
3.3 COMPLIANCE TESTING & CLEANING
A. Testing: Prior to final handover
and building occupancy, test the cured floor for compliance with
ANSI/ESD S20.20-2021 compliance verification standards.
B. Post-Installation Maintenance: Initial cleanup
and maintenance must strictly utilize approved neutral cleaners
(such as ElectraClean) and burnishing compounds (such as
ElectraShine) to avoid degrading ESD characteristics.
3.4 PROTECTION
A. The ElectraSeal system gains maximum hardness and
durability
during a curing phase lasting approximately 2 weeks. Protect
floor coating system while curing and especially during move in
of heavy equipment.
